Click here to check this dog is still available at Smyth Animal RescueAll Smyth Animal Rescue dogs are in foster homes and it takes time to set up meet and greets. We require an approved application before we will set up a meeting. Start by filling out an Adoption Application Form.
The Smyth Animal Rescue adoption fee for dogs/puppies is $200. The fee covers spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, DHPPL vaccination, 4DX test for heartworm and three major tick-borne diseases, deworming, and flea/tick preventative medication.
Smyth Animal Rescue require that all dogs adopted from them live indoors - they cannot be chained or live in an outdoor kennel full time. SAR also require that all existing pets in the home are spayed/neutered and are up-to-date on vaccinations. SAR do follow up with the applicants veterinarian to ensure these requirements are met.

The Smyth County Public Animal Shelter located at 287 Fox Valley Rd at the Seven Mile Ford exit is now being operated by Smyth Animal Rescue. Our staff along with the shelter attendants will continue working hand-in-hand with the Animal Control Officers but you will begin seeing a few changes. Our priorities are to serve lost animals, especially those that are sick or injured; provide assistance when owners need to rehome their pets; provide education and resources to keep animals with their owners; and allocate space for animals awaiting court dates. Continue to follow Smyth Animal Rescue and Smyth Shelter Friends Facebook pages for more details about exciting changes.
Please email infosmythshelter @gmail.com if you would like to receive future updates via email. Phone number is still 276-646-2222. Option 1 is for the Animal Shelter. Option 2 is for Animal Control.
Thanks in advance for your patience as we work through this transition.
And many thanks to everyone who works hard to advocate for the animals
